It was billed as a groundbreaking ceremony. But the highlight was the garage-breaking.
With children chanting "Smash it! Smash it!" Tuesday evening, a trackhoe sunk its metal teeth into the Ingle family's garage on Southwind Drive, signifying that construction has begun on a long-awaited home renovation and expansion project for the family of 14.
"There's one word that drove this project to where it is today. It's a word that binds us together, and it's a word that sustains our family in doing what we do, and that is faith," Rick Ingle told more than 150 people gathered in his front yard.
