Milford eighth-grade science teacher Steve Heck is expected to travel in space next year as part of the Teachers in Space program.
The announcement was made Monday, July 20, the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing. The program is designed to help teachers share their experiences in space with students.
Heck has taught at Milford Junior High School since 2001 and is a retired U.S. Air Force colonel. He is one of seven to be included in this program. The teachers are expected to make a suborbital flight in 2010, said Tim Ackermann, director of human resources at Milford.
