Recently through becoming a member of the Newsvine Community I was able to take part in a community art project. The idea of a traveling art book came from Steve Mock the owner of the group Esprit de Corpse.
I have posted pictures of the transformation of the book so far in the people who had it before me. I am not what many would call artistic but I couldn't pass up the chance to be a part of something bigger. I can't draw and I don't write very well so I went with what I love to do which is taking pictures. I was a bit overwhelmed when I got the book and thought wow such talent, I don't want to mess this up. Many ideas formed in my mind but when put down on paper they didn't work out very well. I learned a great lesson with my time with the book and for what my second go around will be like. The final product that I passed on which isn't pictured has some coloring on the edges around the photographs so they didn't look so lonely on their pages.
As most know I am planning a wedding that is happening in 2 months and I just started a new job so time wasn't my greatest ally and since I didn't want to hold up the book for others to enjoy I went with a simple approach of taking one of my favorite pictures and then manipulating it using GIMP and producing 3 different images of the same thing. I played with many different things and had them all printed out at Meijer and then chose my favorite 3.
I want to thank Steve for allowing me to be a part of this and for putting this all together. I found the time with the book to be intriguing and fun!!
I hope those who follow get a great experience out of it also!
